2d Shape Robot

Giant shape robot collaboration. Make a giant robot as a group or class. Draw some big 2D shapes on coloured paper and cut them out. If you don't have coloured paper, draw the shapes on plain white paper or brown wrapping paper and paint them. Then have fun as a group arranging them in different ways to make your robot figure.

The challenge is to design their own robot and use at least 5 shapes in the process. For younger children Kindergarten or First Grade who only know 2D shapes, you can do this project using only paper and make the robots 2D. For older children, make the robot 3D and practice 3D shapes such as cones, cylinders and cubes.

This is a perfect activity if you would like to help your children to look carefully at 2D shape pictures and copy them. This will involve them arranging, rotating and manipulating different 2D shapes.
