The Historic Commission is a separate historic review board that reviews modifications to the exterior of buildings in both the South Bethlehem Historic Conservation District and the Mount Airy Neighborhood District on the West Side. The Commission meets on the third Monday of every month at 700 PM in the Risbon Room of the Banana Factory.

Historic Moravian Bethlehem was designated a National Historic Landmark District, one of only eight in Pennsylvania and one of only about 200 in the entire United States. On October 17, 2012, there were two places preserved as National Historic Landmarks, The Gemeinhaus 1741 and Bethlehem Waterworks 1762.
