Bird Tree Scale
We present a complete, time-scaled, evolutionary tree of the world's bird species. This tree unites phylogenetic estimates for 9,239 species from 262 studies published between 1990 and 2024, using the Open Tree synthesis algorithm. The remaining species are placed in the tree based on curated taxonomic information.
It has long been appreciated that analyses of genomic data e.g., whole genome sequencing or sequence capture have the potential to reveal the tree of life, but it remains challenging to move from sequence data to a clear understanding of evolutionary history, in part due to the computational challenges of phylogenetic estimation using genome-scale data. Supertree methods solve that challenge bec

Chore-Time's Bird Scale provides an affordable and accurate means of knowing when your birds are ready to be harvested in order to maximize your processing efficiency. At the same time, it is a valuable diagnostic tool that can help you optimize your production operation.
Efforts that will aid in the goal of inferring a species-level avian tree are underway, including many ongoing and parallel phylogenomic studies for various taxonomic groups across the tree of life, both at global scales 143,144,145 and in individual laboratories. Here, we highlight two ongoing efforts to collect large-scale data for birds.

Some types of armored scales include pine needle scale, oyster shell scale, and euonymus scale. Signs and Symptoms. Different species of scale vary in appearance and there are more than 1,000 species in North America. Some look like tiny oyster shells, some resemble fish or reptile scales, and there are plenty of others.

The tree presented here is Aves 1.3 and can be easily updated with new phylogenetic information as new estimates are published. We demonstrate the types of large-scale analyses this data resource enables by linking geographic data with the phylogeny to calculate the regional phylogenetic diversity of birds across the world.
