Exit 114 Canmore
My suggestion would be to take hwy 1 and get off at exit 114 about 3 km west of the casino, take hwy 1X to hwy 1A and go to Canmore from there. The road is wider here too. The stretch between Exshaw and Canmore is the most scenic part of the whole highway in my opinion.

Leave Canmore heading east 27 km on highway 1. Or leave Calgary heading west on highway 1, 5 kilometers after the highway 40 intersection. At exit 114 head north to SeebeExshaw. The Many Springs trail is located off of the Trans-Canada Highway at exit 114 between Canmore and Highway 40. Take the exit from the Trans-Canada Highway and head north towards Seebe on the 1X.
