Liturgical Calendar Circle

A long time ago we made a Liturgical wheel craft that was featured in my book, Catholic ABC's. I finally 4 years later got around to making a printable Liturgical wheel to make all of your lives easier! It spins to reveal different Liturgical seasons, so you can hang it and spin it to the current liturgical season. Check it out!

Use this liturgical calendar graphic for students to obtain a general feel for when important church seasons occur, how long they last, and what church important church holidays end with each important season. This will enable them to identify how Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost tie into particular seasons.

Can we visualize the cycle of our liturgical life, marking time each year as we follow the life of Jesus? The Church gives us that visible calendar in the Liturgical wheel - a circular calendar with days of the year that march us through the seasons. The Christian year is beginning again soon, on the First Sunday of Advent.

Each year the Secretariat of Divine Worship of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops publishes the Liturgical Calendar for the Dioceses of the United States of America. This calendar lists each day's celebration, rank, liturgical color, citations for the Lectionary for Mass, and Psalter cycle for the Liturgy of the Hours.

In the Liturgical cycle calendar diagram below, the months of the regular year are printed on the outside circle. The next layer of circles on the liturgical calendar has the name of the church season. The seasons are color coded for ease, and are also the color of vestments the church uses during those particular Catholic seasons.
