Math Course Pathway
In an efort to make math courses more relevant and improve success rates in college math, various organizations and colleges developed a new model of math education that has come to be called math pathways.5 Math pathways enable students to take diferent paths through the math curriculum, depending on their course of study.
These planning guides are designed to guide and inform conversations to help ensure students enroll in the necessary math courses to set them on the path to college success.

Mathematics Course Paths Students have different math goals. Each pathway is described below. Students may start at any course at placement level or lower and proceed along the pathway until their math goals are met. Note in each pathway, a grade of C or higher is required to move to the next course unless otherwise stated.
Math Pathways encourage students to enroll in and complete gateway, college-level courses in their first academic year by providing options that are relevant to a student's program of study.
Promote student completion of the gateway mathematics course within one year by aligning developmental courses to college-level mathematics courses in the pathway. Respond to campus needs that emerge around mathematics pathways including determining whether bridges between the pathways are working or even necessary.
