From having a quick look around the interwebs it would appear it no longer exists as a built in feature of Google Maps. It would be cool if they brought it back but it's not unlike Google to do something cool, fun and time consuming to then get rid of it soon after. Of course if I'm wrong, please let me know and show me the link to the truth.
