Like many of us, Mike Conrad is just making it up as he goes along. Unlike most of us, however, the 37-year-old - a Bettendorf High School alum whose trio headlines a June 29 concert at Davenport's Conrad has known bassist Katie Ernst since their days in high-school jazz camp, and has known drummer Cassius Goens III since college.

She and Conrad go way back, having met at a jazz camp in high school, and they both have a connection to the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Over ten years after Indianapolis-based drummer Cassius Goens III released his album quotTransitionquot with Conrad on piano, he rejoins Conrad to bring both fire and sensitivity to this 2022 release.
