Welcome to the Barony of Carraig Ban, located in the Middle Kingdom aka Midrealm. Midrealm is one of many Kingdoms within the Society for Creative Anachronism, commonly known as the SCA. Our group is geographically located in northwestern Illinois, from Elgin to Rockford to DeKalb.

The SCA community includes over 30,000 members in 20 kingdoms around the globe. Our participants learn about the arts, skills, and culture of the Middle Ages and Renaissance in an atmosphere of fun, through tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, classes, hands-on workshops, and more.

The Laurel letters are historical records of the SCA College of Arms. The College's standards have changed dramatically over time. Newer rulings override old ones, so rulings appearing in old letters do not necessarily indicate the current policies and practices of the College.
