This package makes the beautiful color maps for oceanography, cmocean, available for the PlotlyJS package. See also. Thyng, K. M., C. A. Greene, R. D. Hetland, H. M
The combination of the six following methods will let you do exactly what you'd like with colors using plotly express. And one particular useful approach will reveal itself as a combinatino of 1 and 3.But we'll get to that in a bit.
oxy. The oxy colormap is sequential for most of the colormap, representing the normal range of oxygen saturation in ocean water, and diverging 80 of the way into the colormap to represent a state of supersaturation. The bottom 20 of the colormap is colored reddish to highlight hypoxic or low oxygen water, but to still print relatively seamlessly into grayscale in case the red hue is not
By default, Plotly Express will use the color sequence from the active template's layout.colorway attribute, and the default active template is plotly which uses the plotly color sequence. You can choose any of the following built-in qualitative color sequences from the px.colors.qualitative module, however, or define your own.

For my earth example, I mapped anything blue ocean-like to lt0.1, mapping everything green to 0.1-0.5, anything tan to 0.5-0.9, and then anything white to gt0.9. That
cmocean. cmocean is a package containing colormaps for commonly-used oceanographic variables. Below we provide a function to convert a cmocean colormap to a Plotly colorscale. Check out all of the cmocean colormaps below!
