When I made the boxes I made them 2.9 x 2.9 instead of 3 x 3 and made the lines to the boxes a very faint grey color. That way I don't have to remove the boxes each time. They are slightly smaller than the sticky note and they are so faint that I can see them to place the notes but they don't show through the sticky notes.

This free printing template is designed to work with 3quot x 3quot Post-It Notes the regular square ones. 1 The first thing you do is print the template containing the little boxes. You can get this PDF file here .
