St Salvator's Chapel is open for general access Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm via the cloister entrance.
St Salvator's 1450, St Leonard's 1512 and St Mary's 1538. In 1747, the union of the two Arts colleges formed the United College of St Salvator and St Leonard. St Salvator's College was chosen as the home for the new United College, the majority of the current buildings date from the 19th and early 20th century.

In 1547 during the siege of St Andrews Castle French troops placed cannon on the top of St Salvator's Tower. St Salvator's Chapel originally had a stone-vaulted roof. In 1773 the vault was removed on the grounds that it was unsafe. However, the stone vaulting turned out to be so secure explosives had to be used to demolish it!
