Solidification In Fluent Gif
The solidification model works by fixing the flow in the solid part. However, at very small scales the surface tension force becomes very significant and can cause this problem. Adjusting the surface tension should work, but you may want to adjust both the mushy values and range you're changing the surface tension over.
The problem that I am dealing with is related to simulating multiphase melting and re-solidification of a moving body using ANSYS Fluent. The physical problem is a solid slab which is moving at a constant speed and is heated locally above its melting point with a stationary heat source. The heat source is applied
Download solidification.zip from the ANSYS Customer Portal or the User Services Center to your working folder as described in Preparation p. 4 of Introduction to Using ANSYS FLUENT in ANSYS
This chapter describes how you can model solidification and melting in Ansys Fluent. For information about the theory behind the model, see Solidification and Melting in the Theory Guide. Information about using the model is organized into the following sections 27.1. Setup Procedure 27.2. Procedures for Modeling Continuous Casting 27.3.
This chapter describes how you can model solidification and melting in ANSYS FLUENT. For information about using the model, see this chapter in the separate User's Guide. 17.1 Overview 17.2 Limitations 17.3 Introduction 17.4 Energy Equation 17.5 Momentum Equations

Figure 4 Test case Built-in Fluent solidification model Figure 5 shows the same test case simulation as Figure 4 with the UDF based solidification model. Obviously, the shape of the solidified area is slightly different, but more interesting is the case that there is sharp edge in the middle of the gray scale. Therefore, the fluid flow is
The solidification model in Ansys Fluent can be used to model the continuous casting process where a solid material is continuously pulled out from the casting domain. In this tutorial, you patched a constant value and a custom field function for the pull velocities instead of computing them. This approach is used for cases where the pull
It is possible to model melting or solidification in a single phase or in multiple phases. For phases that are not melting or solidifying, you must set the latent heat L, liquidus temperature T liquidus, and solidus T solidus temperature to zero.
Ansys Fluent will automatically enable the energy equation, so you do not have to visit the Energy dialog box before turning on the solidificationmelting model.. Under Parameters, specify the value of the Mushy Zone Parameter in Equation 15-6 as a constant, or as a user-defined function. Refer to DEFINE_SOLIDIFICATION_PARAMS in the Fluent Customization Manual for detailed information
