The U.S. Army Ceremonial Band In June of 1943, quotPershing's Ownquot was ordered overseas to perform for American Soldiers and Allies in Europe. During that tour, a representative element known as the quotauxiliary bandquot was established to fulfill ceremonial needs in the nation's capital. Eventually that group was renamed The U.S. Army Ceremonial Band.

1 The ceremonial baton is a short, thick stick-like object, typically in wood or metal, that is traditionally the sign of a field marshal or a similar high-ranking military officer, and carried as a piece of their uniform. The baton is distinguished from the swagger stick in being thicker and effectively without any practical function.
