Up to 320 residents live in Courtenay, Dunglison, and Fitzhugh the suite-style houses of Alderman Road. Each suite housing up to ten students features a shared living area and bathroom, and five double bedrooms. Air conditioning and newly renovated bathrooms were available in this housing area as of the 2020-2021 academic year.

There some downsides, however this year Fitzhugh will be open, which means there will be a common lounge for the buildings, which I and my residents didn't have. Fitzhugh is one of the few suite-style dorms at UVA, so I shared the suite with 9 other girls. People at UVA refer to Fitzhugh as one of the quotmotelsquot because it is relatively short 3 stories but wide. The upside to the suite-style is that the bathrooms tend to be cleaner and the noise is much quieter than hall-style dorms.

New Dorms There are eight new dorm residences located on Alderman Road including, Shannon, Tuttle-Dunnington, Watson-Webb, Lile-Maupin, Woody, Balz-Dobie, Cauthen and Gibbons.These dorms are considerably newer compared to the old dorms and all are fully air-conditioned, thank goodness.They are hall-style like the old dorms, although some people say the old dorm rooms are bigger.

The motel suites Courtenay, Dunglison, and Fitzhugh, better known as CDF, have been graciously given the reputation of being one of the worst first-year dorms on the grounds at UVA. In fact, when my suitemates and I tell people where we live, it is usually followed by a look of both disgust and condolences.
